I hate this idea people have that if a parent walks in and turns off the tv while their kids are watching or playing something it’s evidence of some unhealthy attachment or addiction to technology if they get pissed off. You know that joke we keep making about how they should do animated remakes of live-action movies instead of live-action remakes of animated films?
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse is, like, the proof-of-concept for why this joke idea is brilliant and should not only be taken seriously but also be put into effect immediately. As a person who has enjoyed all but two of the live action Spider-Man movies - a person who even LOVES one of them - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse makes them all look like piles of shit. Why the fuck have we been watching live action superheroes? They work so much better in animation. Everything about this movie beats the living shit out of every other superhero film ever made.
And don’t get me wrong, a lot of the live-action superhero movies are REALLY good movies. When I say this movie soars past them, that is HIGH praise on my part.
